Dan Southerland...now what?
I hope you were all energized and captivated by a vision of what could be and what should be as we make the intentional choice to be a church that reaches the lost. Dan spoke well of God's father heart for His people. He spoke of God's desire to see a church that would be as passionate about reaching lost people as He is. To do that means that we make the choice to prioritize lost people over those of us who are currently in the church and know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. So, where do we go from here with this? I'd like your input. What sparked inside of you as you heard Dan Southerland speak? What do you think this means for us as a church going forward? I'd love to hear about that.

Lord help me to be more intentional in reaching the lost! It's so urgent! It's our charge from you, our Creator! It's a matter of life or death! It's the least we can do?
I do have a heart for people, and their eternal security, but how quickly I lose sight of the impact "I" can make on someone for Christ! "What can I do"?. . . . "It's going to take more than what I can give?" "I can't make a difference"?. . . I need to remember, that God can use me in whatever capacity he wants to if I'm just willing. Lord help me to be willing! I want to hear, "Well done, good and faithful servant"!
I was quite impressed that Dan more or less just told us what we have already been told before, We need to reach out to the lost, hunt them down like Christ would for that one lost sheep or lamb. He left the 99 and went a looking for the the 1 lost. He knows us by name and is calling each of us but are our ears open. There may be a name on your heart, I hear it all the time in prayer requests for those without salvation. I think even Jesus was not heard or welcomed to those of His own territory(hometown). WE need to go out of the comfort of home and befriend those around us but being in prayer for one or two.
I think he was wonderfull!!! He spoke the truth on what the church is supposed to be about. Growing up in the church I knew what the Great Commission was, and even what it meant, but I don't think I ever REALLY got it until recently. You don't just invite people to church and "hope" they come, and if they don't....Oh well, you did your job, so GIVE UP! It's deeper than that, you can't just invite people, you have to make a relationship with them, love them, and when they're trusting they will want the peace that you have and hunger for it. Let them see a glimpse of Jesus through what you say, what you do, and how you serve, and love. They'll want it too.
